In this dream of hearing my name called, the dreamer attends a class at a UK college with a friend from the UK, then plays with the same friend on a playground. Suddenly people begin shouting his name, and the shouting wakes him. The central tension is between the absorbed, companionable world of study and play and a collective call that pulls him out of it. Two readings follow: one through Siddhar and Shaiva Siddhanta ideas of nama and the states of consciousness (avastha), and another through Jungian ideas of the call and the Persona. Who is calling, and toward what?

1. The Name That Pulls Across States: Indian thought speaks of states of consciousness (avastha), including waking (jagrat) and dreaming (svapna). In this dream it is the dreamer's own name, his nama, that carries him from one state to the other. The name is the thread binding awareness to its identity in the waking world. When enough voices call it, the dream cannot hold him.
2. Learning, Play and Interruption: The dream moves from the classroom to the playground, from structured learning to free play, and both are shared with the same companion. Neither is presented as wrong; both are absorbing. The call does not criticise them, it only ends them. Is the interruption a summons to duty, a protective waking, or simply the end of a chapter the dream was revisiting?
🧠JUNGIAN ANALYSIS & ARCHETYPES
1. Returning to the Student Self: A UK college and a UK friend place the dreamer inside an earlier chapter of identity, the student and companion rather than the working adult. On the subjective level, the friend may stand for a part of himself that belonged to that chapter. The easy shift into play suggests this part is at home in learning and enjoyment, with nothing to prove.
