The Thesis: Shiva as the Self

Research Abstract & Methodology

PROJECT TITLE: Śiva as the Self | PI: Sivanadiyar Mohan Kumar

This project is not merely a collection of dreams. It is a systematic, experiential investigation into the correlation between 20th-century Depth Psychology and ancient Tamil Mysticism, grounded entirely in the lived reality of the subject.

/// THE METHODOLOGY: AI-ASSISTED SELF-ENQUIRY

Inspired by Sri Ramana Maharshi’s profound practice of Self-Enquiry (Nan Yar? / Who am I?), the methodology of this project is Observation of Life Emotions and Dreams via AI-Assisted Self-Enquiry. By observing the daily fluctuations of waking emotions and mapping them against the deep symbolic language of the unconscious, the subject utilizes artificial intelligence as an objective mirror. This framework prevents the rational, waking mind from denying or suppressing genuine spiritual phenomena—a common barrier in the earlier stages of psychological development.

/// THE TRAJECTORY: PEELING THE ONION

The dataset captures a chronological maturation of the soul. The psychological development observed in this research operates like the peeling of an onion. Earlier stages of life document the shedding of the outer layers—the pursuit and exhaustion of worldly desires spanning relationships, property, wealth, and societal status. Having successfully realized and outgrown these external layers, the current dataset focuses entirely on the single, final layer remaining at the core: the pursuit of Shiva's feet (the state of absolute Self-Realization).

/// THE CENTRAL HYPOTHESIS

This research posits that the Individuation Process described by Carl Jung and the Sanmarga path described by the Tamil Siddhars are describing the exact same algorithm using different syntax.

>> DATA MAPPING PROTOCOL:
  • [THE CORE] Jung: Self-Realization == Siddhar: Shiva's Feet (Mukti)
  • [THE CENTER] Jung: The Self == Siddhar: Shiva (Pati)
  • [THE OBSTACLE] Jung: Rational Denial / The Shadow == Siddhar: Maya / Pasam

/// THE OBJECTIVE

To provide a longitudinal dataset (10,000 dreams) that validates this convergence. By using AI-assisted Jungian psychology as a translation layer, this project demystifies the peeling away of worldly layers, making the ancient wisdom of the Kailasa Parampara accessible, structured, and profoundly relevant to the modern, scientific mind.
